Makinde, MTN, Access bank shine at Social Media Awards

MTN, Access Bank and Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde led the list of 25 winners at the Social Media for Social Good Summit and Awards Africa.

Other winners include Girl Hub Africa, Ugochi Obidiegwu, Sega Link, Edirin Edewor, Africa Clean Up initiative, My Farm Base Africa, Donors for Africa, Photowaka Africa, So Fresh Ng and Debo Adebayo (McMacaroni).

Honorary awards were also extended to Fela Durotoye, Mo Abudu, Chikwe Ihekweazu and Folorunsho Alakija.

Speaking at the summit and awards ceremony held online, the Convener of Social Media Summits, Kalada Belema Meshack-Hart, said it was important to appreciate Nigerians using their social media platforms.

He added that this year’s edition had over 3,500 participants and 4 speakers at the summit.

50 feared dead in fresh katsina attacks

The attack happened hours after residents of Yantumaki Town in Danmusa Local Government Area of the state took to the streets to protest the rising insecurity particularly kidnapping in their area, following the abduction a man along with his daughter in the early hours of Tuesday. Security operatives reportedly came to the aid of the residents about three hours after the attackers had left at about 6:00 pm. Suspected Thugs Invade Edo Assembly, Remove Roofs and Mace

The lawmaker stepped the wrong toe after declaring his support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu. As the development aggravates amid political tension preluding the governorship election in the southsouth state, some men were caught on camera taking down the roofs of the assembly and breaking the mace figure on it.
