Nigeria Records 745 New Covid-19 Cases, Total Now 18,480



Over 18,400 cases of coronavirus have been reported in Nigeria.

This after 745 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in the country on Thursday.


 
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control announced this on its website.

It also said that no fewer than 475 patients have died of coronavirus-related complications in the country.

Data obtained from the NCDC’s website showed that Nigeria currently has 11,669 active COVID-19 cases.

It said, “On the 18th of June 2020, 745 new confirmed cases and 6 deaths were recorded in Nigeria’

“No new state has reported a case in the last 24 hours.

“Till date, 18480 cases have been confirmed, 6307 cases have been discharged and 475 deaths have been recorded in 35 states and the Federal Capital Territory.



“The 745 new cases are reported from 21 states- Lagos(280), Oyo(103), Ebonyi(72), FCT(60), Imo(46), Edo(34), Delta(33), Rivers(25), Kaduna(23), Ondo(16), Katsina(12), Kano(10), Bauchi(8), Borno(7), Kwara(5), Gombe(4), Sokoto(2), Enugu(2), Yobe(1), Osun(1), Nasarawa(1).”

Globally, the novel coronavirus has killed at least 450,386 people since the outbreak began in China last December, according to a tally compiled by AFP as of 07 pm on Thursday.


 
At least 8,410,400 cases of coronavirus have been registered in 196 countries and territories. Of these, at least 3,866,200 are considered recovered.

Europe overall has 190,185 deaths from 2,471,745 cases; the United States and Canada have 126,405 deaths from 2,273,952 infections; Latin America and the Caribbean 86,723 deaths from 1,840,488 cases; Asia 26,990 deaths from 938,635 cases; the Middle East 12,730 deaths from 606,444 cases; Africa 7,222 deaths from 270,355 cases; and Oceania 131 deaths from 8,784 cases.

50 feared dead in fresh katsina attacks

The attack happened hours after residents of Yantumaki Town in Danmusa Local Government Area of the state took to the streets to protest the rising insecurity particularly kidnapping in their area, following the abduction a man along with his daughter in the early hours of Tuesday. Schools To Remain Shut- Fed Govt

Pupils and students will stay longer at home because schools cannot reopen soon, the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 said on Thursday. The government cited the need to protect the vulnerable and halt the spread of the virus in communities as reasons. Besides, the government is worried about the rising cases of the virus pandemic in the country. School children were sent home in March to prevent Coronavirus spread.
