Suspected Thugs Invade Edo Assembly, Remove Roofs and Mace


The lawmaker stepped the wrong toe after declaring his support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu. 

As the development aggravates amid political tension preluding the governorship election in the southsouth state, some men were caught on camera taking down the roofs of the assembly and breaking the mace figure on it. Loyalists to Godwin Obaseki and APC lawmakers working against the reelection of the governor are currently are said to be clashing inside the complex. 

Governor Obaseki had earlier threatened to unleash violence in full force should the ruling party APC take to the rampage path. The governor made this vow while addressing pressmen as the gubernatorial election in the south-south state draws closer.

 Edo election has been scheduled for September with both APC and PDP highlighting the guber race in a fierce feud that has put both parties at public loggerhead.

 Kogi guber: Huge number of APC aspirants is due to my efforts, says Gov Bello Speaking about possible machinations of violence, Governor Obaseki said he would not hesitate to deploy violence because "there is no monopoly of it." "Nobody has a monopoly of violence, if they want violence we will show them violence. If I see anybody smashing any car because my stickers or poster is there, let me know. "And we will show them that we are in government. And I am governor, Philip (Shaibu) is deputy We are the only two people who have immunity in this state today. And I am saying it in a very clear warning," Obaseki said. Obaseki dumped his membership of the APC on Tuesday, June 16, after he was screened out of the ruling party's primary over an alleged defective certificate. 

His resignation climaxed the feud between him and his former political godfather, Adams Oshiomhole.

All TESCOM Applicants to update their Records- Oyo Govt. (Check date)

   Oyo state government has directed all applicants who applied for the Teaching Service Commission jobs to visit the website and upload the details of their credentials and personal data.   Mrs.  Grace Olabisi Oderinde, Permanent Secretary, Oyo State Post Primary Schools Service Commission (TESCOM) state this in a released post on social media on Thursday.  The exercise is for those who have obtained and submitted application forms in the on-going recruitment exercise. They are expected to do so between Monday, 13th and Saturday 18th July, 2020 for further processing of their applications. “Please note that ONLY applicants who have already filled and submitted the application forms are eligible for this exercise. “We hereby enjoin all applicants to take note of this development, as failure to comply will lead to forfeiture of such application,” the announcement reads.

Federal Government Increase petrol price to N143.80 per litre

The Federal Government has announced a new pump price for premium motor spirit (PMS). The Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) has announced that the new pump price of petrol is between N140.80-N143.80 per litre. Nigerians might witness another hike in retail price for petrol as the Petroleum Product Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) has recommended an upward review from N121.50. The agency recommended that a litre of petrol should now be sold between N140.80 and N143.80. The Cable reports that the agency in a statement wrote:  “After a review of the prevailing market fundamentals in the month of June and considering marketers’ realistic operating costs, as much as practicable, we wish to advise a new PMS pump price band of N140.80 – N143.80/litre for the month of July 2020.”

Over 3million Applications in one week-- N-Power

The online portal for the recruitment of the third batch of N-Power enrolees has witnessed over 3million applications in a week. The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development commenced the enrolment process of the third batch of the N-Power beneficiaries on 26th June 2020. A week after the portal was opened for application, the ministry said over 3million applications have been received. The Government said 400,000 applicants will be absorbed into the third batch of its N-Power National Social Investment Scheme (NSIP). The update on the application exercise is contained in a statement in Abuja on Friday by the Deputy Director Information of the ministry, Rhoda Iliya.
